Halloween

Halloween is around the corner, and millions of children and adults will celebrate that day, and will wear different kinds of costumes.
Since scary figures are displayed, and scary outfits are worn, many often ask the question: is it ok for a Christian to participate in this festivity ?
Well, I think I have made a pretty nice research on this subject, because I don't just want to answer based on what I think, nor repeat what everybody else says. So I will share with you some of what I have gather and you will be able to answer the question yourself. Be advised that I don't recommend this article for children reading, since it will get a little heavy and dark.

First let me start with the origins of halloween, so you know where it comes from.

The History Channel web page says :

Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth...
To commemorate the event, Druids built huge sacred bonfires, where the people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities. During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each others fortunes...
On May 13, 609 A.D., Pope Boniface IV dedicated the Pantheon in Rome in honor of all Christian martyrs, and the Catholic feast of All Martyrs Day was established in the Western church. Pope Gregory III (731–741) later expanded the festival to include all saints as well as all martyrs, and moved the observance from May 13 to November 1. By the 9th century the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands, where it gradually blended with and supplanted the older Celtic rites. In 1000 A.D., the church would make November 2 All Souls' Day, a day to honor the dead. It is widely believed today that the church was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. All Souls Day was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels and devils. The All Saints Day celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the traditional night of Samhain in the Celtic religion, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween...

The Britannica encyclopedia online also adds :

Along with other festivities, the celebration of Halloween was largely forbidden among the early American colonists, although in the 1800s there developed festivals that marked the harvest and incorporated elements of Halloween. When large numbers of immigrants, including the Irish, went to the United States beginning in the mid 19th century, they took their Halloween customs with them, and in the 20th century Halloween became one of the principal U.S. holidays, particularly among children...

The site, BibleHeadquarters.org says:

The origin of Halloween is the Celtic festival of Samhain, lord of death and evil spirits. The druids worshipped nature and celebrated the new year on October 31st. These practices predate Christianity. They believed that on October 31st, Samhain assembled the spirits of all who had died during the previous year.
These spirits had been confined to inhabit animals' bodies for the past year as punishment for their evil deeds. They were permitted to return to their former homes to visit the living on the eve (Oct.31) of the feast of Samhain.
Druid priests led the people in diabolical worship ceremonies in which horses, cats, black sheep, oxen, human beings and other offerings were rounded up, stuffed into wicker cages and burned to death. This was done to appease Samhain and keep spirits from harming them. The priests would go from house to house asking for fatted calves, black sheep and human beings. Those who gave were promised prosperity and those who refused were cursed and threatened.
It was thought that the wandering spirits would get hungry. If you set out a treat for them they would not curse you. Hence we have the origin of Trick or Treat. Trick or Treat is a reenactment of the druid practices. The candy has replaced animal/human sacrifices and is an appeasement of deceptive spirits...
The Pilgrims barred celebrating Halloween in America. This ban lasted until 1845. At that time thousands of immigrants flooded into New York. They brought Halloween with them and it spread throughout the country.

The Christian Assemblies International web page says:

Halloween is a religious day, but it is not Christian. Tom Sanguinet, a former high priest in Wicca has said: “The modern holiday that we call Halloween has its origins in the full moon closest to November 1, the witches’ new year. It is a time when the spirits (demons) are supposed to be at their peak power and revisiting planet earth… Halloween is purely and absolutely evil, and there is nothing we ever have, or will do, that would make it acceptable to the Lord Jesus.”...
On Halloween, for thousands of years, druid priests have conducted diabolical worship ceremonies in which cats, horses, sheep, oxen, human beings and other offerings were rounded up, stuffed into wicca cages and burned to death. These human and animal sacrifices were apparently required to appease Samhain and keep the spirits from harming them.

Now you know a summarized history of halloween. Pretty intense, uh ? To imagine all this stuff really happened.
But the sad part is that Christians are participating in these ancient satanic rituals, and we have to warn them ! And if you are one of them, please keep reading and know the whole truth behind this pagan holiday.

Sadly, this doesn't end with the history of halloween. It is bad enough already to celebrate it, knowing the history. But let me tell you something that is going to shock many of you. Here is where it gets more intense.

Halloween, is not only alive as a seemingly "harmless" holiday. Let me tell you that it is still the most important day for satanism, witchcraft, etc, it is all the same thing. Oh, yes. You think satan worship and witchcraft is science fiction ? No actually is real, in fact now is also 'trendy' an 'cool', thanks to hollywood. Now many young kids and young adults want to be like Harry Potter or one of those cool, nice looking vampires. What ? you didn't know of wicca ? Or neo-paganism ? Or vampirism ? Of course real vampires with super powers and long fangs don't exist, but take a look at these news articles taken from The American Dream:

The following comes from an article about this bizarre incident from the local NBC affiliate in Miami….
Stephanie Pistey confirmed assertions by police in Parker, Fla., that the people involved in the July murder of 16-year-old Jacob Hendershot were in a vampire cult. Pistey, who was arrested last Monday and charged with accessory to murder, said she sees herself as a modern day Dracula.
“Since I was like 12 every fiber in my body, basically everything, I know this is going to be crazy, but I believe that I’m a vampire and part werewolf,” Pistey told WBBH-TV.
Sadly, this is not just an isolated incident.  Just check out the following description of another “vampire crime” that comes from a recent article by the Christian Post….
Just a few months ago, a 19-year-old in Texas, claiming to have been a 500-year-old vampire needing to be fed, broke into a woman’s home, threw her against the wall, and tried to suck her blood.
Paganism is very well alive today and in fact is growing and fast : Fabulous Mag,  The Examiner,  CNN's religion blog, etc, etc...

Sounds unbelievable ? Check out the web page of Bill Schnoebelen, a new born Christian, former vampire and satanist. A description of his DVD series called Interview with an Ex-Vampire, says: In his 20 years in the ministry, Bill has been interviewed countless times, but never like this! This set includes his testimony and also excellent up-to-date information on: Wicca, Catholicism, Mormonism, the Vampire Cult, Freemasonry, Satanism and much more.

Doing this research, I listened to many different testimonies in radio shows or Christian shows, given by ex satanists whose stories are horrific. Their situations and experiences vary. But they all describe the same atrocious rituals. Are you ready for this ? This is heavy stuff. They all confess that in these rituals, the following takes place: demon invocations, own blood offerings, animal sacrifices which includes mutilation, eating of its heart and drinking of its blood. And sadly but true, human sacrifices from adults to new born babies, which also includes the eating and drinking. Is this too much for you ? You don't believe me ? I don't blame you, because this stuff really is unbelievable, but true. But please, keep reading. You can listen to their testimonies yourself when you finish reading this article. The following comes from an article in the New York Daily News
“This is a time when blood rituals take place,” said Hedy Litke, director of animal placement at the ASPCA. “Black cats are often sacrificed.”

The following is from an article in the Baltimore Sun
“As horrible as this may sound, cats are tortured around Halloween time,” said Deborah Thomas, executive director of the Maryland SPCA, which for years has enforced a virtual moratorium on black cat adoptions in the days before Halloween. “It’s just incredible what people will do to cats, as if they don’t have any feelings.”

An article in the L.A. Times noted, these groups will use cats of any color if they are desperate
“There are also so-called religious groups that sacrifice animals,” said Leslie Eppick of the Glendale SPCA. “If desperate, they will take any cat, no matter what color.”

The following is from an article posted on wsbtv.com
The black cat was carried into the woods near a Clayton County, Ga. apartment complex, sprayed with flammable liquid and set on fire. In Stockbridge, Ga., someone tried to chemically burn a devil caricature, horns and all, into the face of a black kitten. “I think more happens than we know about,” Deborah Rumbold of PeachState Pet Partners said.

Those are regarding animals. Let go now to reports on human rituals.

The following is what one blogger shared about her memories of Halloween abuse from childhood…
Some of my earliest memories of the ceremony and worship of the dark side that I experienced here follows. One of the hardest involved being up in the canyon at the lodge where they gathered. Very late into the night of the moons shining upon them they would begin. After the normal families left and the “die hards” lit the bonfire and continued to binge on the feasts and drink the hard booze it would commence. There was a man who was the leader. He would “all gather, lets get this thing on the road” and cheers would sound up as the wild tones would echo. I and other kids, children of the others there were in a cabin like building. The big kids would then get the little kid that was chosen by the adults. That night it was me.

There are some groups that actually use “breeders” to produce babies that will be used for child sacrifices.

The following is what Nancy Dunn (who was raised in a Satanist family) recently told CBN…
“My father worked in the aerospace industry. My mother worked for a doctor. On the outside just looked normal, but nobody knew what was going on behind closed doors.
My father was actually a Satanic high priest, so he did all kinds of evil things. He sexually assaulted me, took me to satanic rituals. My father actually used me as a baby breeder, which means I was impregnated so the Satanists would have a baby to sacrifice to the devil in their Satanic rituals. As soon as I was able to have a baby, I was pregnant.”

I could give you more examples like these, and more details, but I dare not. You can listen to them on the videos.

My dear readers, denying, ignoring or not wanting to know about this stuff won't change the fact that these satan worshipers actually do these atrocities.  And again, sadly many Christians participate in these rituals, of course they are not this 'hardcore', they don't participate for real, they just do it for fun. But we shouldn't participate at all in this demonic holiday. Yes ! It is a very sacred day for satanists. Actually is the most important date for wiccans, in fact they call it "a sabbat", can you believe that ? Straight from their own web page, wicca.com
So, let me also mention that watching movies like, Harry Potter, the Twilight saga, and many other movies associated with witchcraft, sorcery, vampirism, occultism, etc, opens the an spiritual door for dark forces to influence your life and family through hidden messages, symbolism and images. This is serious !

I cannot leave the halloween symbolism behind, everything they use has a meaning, but I'll be very brief about it, you can do your own research.

Jack-o-lantern

Jack was a man who could enter neither heaven nor hell and was condemned to wander through the night with only a candle in a turnip for light...
It is an old legend that candle flames which flicker on Samhain night are being touched by the spirits of dead ancestors, or "ghosts."



The witch's broom

Earthwitchery.com says:
It also became a symbol of Samhain because of its fertility symbolism. The broomstick is a phallic symbol used by female witches in fertility rites, and it is from this idea that the witches of Halloween ride broomsticks. The sweeping end was traditionally made of the broom herb, a feminine herb.
(For those who don't know, phallic means male reproducing organ)

Black cats, bats, owls, spider, crows they all are scary creatures, but most important, they are nocturnal creatures, they are associated with darkness. And obviously, things as ghosts, graves, skulls, etc.

Trick or treat

The candy has replaced the human sacrifices of old, but it is still an appeasement of those deceptive evil spirits. The traditional response to those who do not treat is to have a trick played on the. When you give out Halloween candy, you are, in essence providing a sacrifice to false gods. You are participating in idolatry" says the former high priest of Wicca, Tom Sanguinet.
 
Costumes and disguises

Ireland-information.com:
This tradition of wearing costumes also dates back to Celtic times. On the special night when the living and the dead were at their closest the Celtic Druids would dress up in elaborate costumes to disguise themselves as spirits and devils in case they encountered other devils and spirits during the night. By disguising they hoped that they would be able to avoid being carried away at the end of the night. This explains why witches, goblins and ghosts remain the most popular choices for the costumes.

Ok, enough !
Now that you know more about halloween, you can answer yourself the question I asked at the beginning of this article, is it ok for a Christian to participate in this festivity ?
I strongly believe the answer is very clear.
But to finish this article let me give you the only answer you can trust. God's word.

Deuteronomy 18:9 When you are come into the land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, 11or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh: and because of these abominations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you. 13You shall be perfect with Yahweh your God.

Romans 13:12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Ephesians 5:11Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.

Leviticus 19:31 Do not defile yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the spirits of the dead. I am the LORD your God.

Ezekiel 44:23 They are to teach my people the difference between the holy and the common and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God's law, I will also forget your children.

Dear friends, brothers and sisters, I pray that you will consider all this and that the Holy spirit will touch your hearts and minds to guide you to do what is right. We have to stand firm in our fight against evil, against error and deceit, exposing the unfruitful works of darkness. Let us be faithful to our creator and savior Jesus Christ, and to our loving heavenly father, the all mighty Yahweh.
