Passover 2012 Nissan 15

 Passover 2012
Nissan 15

Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man,
who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid.
It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.

Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment. (Luke 23:50-56)

Sabbath was about to begin, they hurried and wrapped Jesus' body and placed him in the tomb.
Sabbath began, the disciples and the women rested in obedience to the commandment. Their Master had just died, but even though they were very very sad, they did not do anything that could disobey the 4th commandment, their faith in God was still strong.
But the greatest example does not come from Jesus' followers by obeying the Holy Sabbath.
The greatest example comes from Jesus himself ! Just as he rested the 7th day after finishing his creation, he also rested after completing our redemption !!! The same day that he blessed and made holy, the same day that he set apart as a sign between Him and his people, the same day that we will go before Him in heaven (from one Sabbath to another Isaiah 66:23) that same day, never changed, he rested.

How could we not follow His example ? Today, Sabbath, the holy day of rest, set apart by our Creator, let us rest from our labors and disconnect ourselves from the world. Let us spend this day in communion with Him, today is our "date" with our Creator and Redeemer, let us put everything aside and worship Him and praise Him on His holy day. Today is our "oasis" after a busy week. Thank you Jesus for giving us the privilege of spending a whole day just with you !

To be continued....
